The river Svartån that flows through Västerås is very beautiful. Presumably the river is named for itäs dark water, which at times does look as if it is black. Svartån means black river in swedish. There is a sense of calm in the frozen tranquility of the river. I converted this shot to black and white as there were not a lot of colours in the scene. There is something harsh about this scene which is matched by the black and white.
